About

Originally established with contributions made by industry friends in memory of Ron Ahlport, Fred Bertetta Sr., and Jim Divine, the CIOMA Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to help children and employees of CFCA members further their education and professional development.

The CIOMA Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship awards to deserving students attending college or vocational programs at any accredited postsecondary institution.  It is publicly supported by generous contributions from CFCA members, their communities, and those who share an interest or affiliation with the fuel distributor and convenience store industries.

“Receiving the CIOMA Memorial Scholarship has made a meaningful difference in my educational journey. It helped ease the financial stress of tuition and allowed me to focus more on my studies and career goals. As a Business Management major preparing to graduate, this support brought me one step closer to achieving my dream of owning my own business. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity and the encouragement it has given me to keep moving forward."

KAITLIN HOY

2024 Scholarship Recipient

“I am happy to share that I officially graduated in December of 2025, thanks in part to the CIOMA Memorial Scholarship Fund! Since joining the CFCA team mid-2023, I’ve applied for the scholarship twice and have been fortunate enough to receive financial support both times to accompany my studies. Pursuing my first bachelor’s degree online at Arizona State University came with many challenges. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to focus on my studies without the high-cost burden of textbooks and class materials. The scholarship helped relieve a huge burden as someone who pursued education out-of-state and allowed me to succeed in my studies. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to my journey beyond graduation!”

2024/2025 Scholarship Recipient

"I am incredibly grateful to have been a recipient of the 2025 CIOMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has helped ease the financial burden of college and allowed me to focus more fully on my education. I am currently a student at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a double major in Legal Studies and English, and I plan to graduate in Spring 2027. This semester, I am also studying abroad in Valencia, Spain, an opportunity made more accessible through this support. With the contributions of my parents, especially my dad who works for Pilot Fuel Company, and this scholarship, I have been able to pursue meaningful academic opportunities while continuing to work toward my long-term goals. This scholarship reflects a community that invests in the success of its families and has given me the confidence to pursue opportunities beyond the classroom. I am deeply thankful to CMCF donors and its members for believing in students like me!"
