CFCA Ends 2021 Day at the Capitol on a High Note
CFCA's 2021 Day at the Capitol is officially over. Despite the challenges faced in a virtual event, overall meetings went extremely smoothly and reception from staff was overwhelmingly positive.
Attended by 40 members, our industry was able to meet with 60 lawmakers to discuss a select few issues facing our industry in the capitol right now. CalRecycle was a central issue, that has plagued retailers for years. Now, with a solution bill heading through the assembly, CFCA was able to bring attention to the issue, and lawmakers responded to this needed fix with great enthusiasm and support.
In fact, a bill we directly lobbied for this week, AB 1454 (Bloom), has just made it through its suspense hearing, and will now be heard in front of the full Assembly!
With budget negotiations in hot contention, CFCA members pushed lawmakers to answer the call of major automakers, Chevron, and Shell in pushing the governor to allocate $500 million of his proposed $1.3 billion to hydrogen fuel infrastructure.
Of course, in the midst of an ongoing driver shortage, members educated lawmakers on the current crisis, and urged them to work with industry on possible solutions.
Beyond just the legislative success of our meetings, lawmakers and staff members were incredibly positive in their impressions of our meetings. We continue to hear positive feedback on our members and the event, with compliments including:
"That was really intelligent conversation. The members really knew what they what they were talking about."
"You guys ran your lobby day better than the others I've done, for sure. Efficient and productive!"
"You guys ran a great lobby day, and we loved the conversation."
We are always proud to hear of the positive impacts our members are making and the compliments we continue to receive on their behalf are incredible.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated! This truly would not have been possible without you, and your efforts make a tremendous difference!
