Sacramento’s Newest Hydrogen Fueling Station Opens July 9th
Convenience Industry Leads the Charge in the Future of Fuels
07/08/2019

Sacramento, CA – On July 9th, another local convenience store will unveil the latest hydrogen fueling location in Sacramento. For years, California’s fuels and convenience industry has lead the way in pioneering the future of alternative fuels, driving towards lower emissions and more efficient transportation. The new location will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony in the morning at their location on the corner of Watt Avenue and Fair Oaks Blvd.

As the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and U.S. Department of Energy look to hydrogen to help curb transportation emissions, the retail fueling sector, composed of independent small businesses, has worked to help make it a reality. California boasts the greatest number of hydrogen fueling stations in the nation and nearly all of them are at community gas stations. Because of this commitment, California is well on its way to its goal of 100 hydrogen stations. This rapid growth is made possible by the countless small-business owners leading the way in our industry.

CARB has listed hydrogen vehicles as one of its tools to help lower transportation emissions throughout the state and improve air quality overall. While electric vehicles are one option, they require large power companies to control a non-transparent fuel pricing system, and also come with lengthy refueling times, and a level of anxiety over their range and reliability in cold-weather environments. Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles offer nearly the same level of convenience as traditional gas-powered cars yet only produce water as a by-product. They are also exceedingly resilient and reliable despite California’s changing seasons.

California’s fuels and convenience industry is always looking for new ways to innovate the transportation experience, while providing the level of convenience and reliability Californians have come to expect. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles can offer a sustainable future, while assuring drivers that their vehicles can go the distance and fill up without delay.

At the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance, we are committed to working with local businesses and industry leadership to bring advanced fuels like hydrogen, biodiesel and renewable diesel, and others to consumers across California. We look forward to helping California develop the most extensive network of hydrogen fueling stations in the world, without disrupting the level of service California’s drivers have come to expect.
